Revelation 2:14

Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality.

The church at Pergamum remained faithful in the midst of a city that Jesus described as “where Satan lived”, yet they crossed over into sexual immorality. We are called to be lights in dark areas, but it is when we are closest to the battle when we need to be the most watchful, for we have an enemy that hates the light. As much as we value freedom, the Scripture has a greater value of obedience to God. Don’t allow your freedom in Christ to become an excuse to step into sin.
